Permasoft is the name of a popular "cushion-liner" that is used by many dentists because it is simply fantastic!  It can also refer to a soft silicone reline material for your denture.

Why does Permasoft work so well?

Being "soft and comfortable" permasoft lined dentures may be comfortably worn all day giving the mouth a rest!  Furthermore, wearing a permasoft lined denture all day encourages the formation of excellent chewing and speaking habits.

How long does Permasoft last?

With proper home care, some Permasoft liners can last 2-3 years.  Soft silicone liners placed in the office (not sent to the lab) can last between 3 and 12 months.  Of course, we've seen some patients with special mouths and wonderful home care have liners last for even longer!

What is "Proper Home Care?"

Soaking your denture in "Stain Away" powder (click here for an Amazon link) is our preferred method of cleaning a denture, in addition to gentile brushing of the non-liner side of the denture with hand soap (not toothpaste). Toothpaste or other abrasives will cause the denture to become less polished and dull.  Eventually, a dull denture will become stained.

For Homemade Ingredients:

Try 1 teaspoon of baking soda into a glass or plastic container and add lukewarm water.

What if I want to Soak my Denture Overnight?

That's fine, just consider replacing the stain-away water with tap water as it is suggested to only have the denture in the Stain Away for 15 minutes at a time.

Of course, if you have any other questions, feel free to send us a message, or give us a call to schedule an appointment.  Dr. Chris specifically has hundreds of denture cases completed and typically can help with even the most difficult dentures.
